CURRENT WORKSHOP
The Inner Life: A Six-Week Flash Fiction Workshop
In flash fiction, what remains unsaid often carries as much weight as what appears on the page. This six-week workshop explores how writers create emotional depth, tension and resonance in stories of fewer than 1,000 words.
Together, we will examine how character, desire, conflict, memory and silence operate within compressed forms. Through close reading and discussion, generative writing exercises, and workshop feedback, participants will develop new work while strengthening their understanding of contemporary flash fiction.
Each 90-minute session will include:
• A brief craft lesson
• Discussion of assigned readings
• Guided writing exercises
• Live workshop discussion of participant work
Participants will submit one flash fiction piece each for feedback and discussion.
Topics may include:
Week 1: Character Through Detail
Week 2: Desire, Conflict, and Tension
Week 3: Writing the Unspoken
Week 4: Compression and Structure
Week 5: Endings and Emotional Resonance
Week 6: Revision and Workshop
Format: Live Zoom
Length: Six weeks
Class size: Limited to 8 writers
Cost: $295
Suitable for writers at all levels of experience who are interested in developing flash fiction and engaging deeply with the writing process.
